Day Nine
Starship Date, August 4, 2013
It’s been just over a week and we’ve ridden over 2500 miles since leaving Washington. Arrived in Anchorage Saturday evening after riding the Denali Highway from the Tangle River Inn. It’s 110 miles of gravel road heading west to Cantwell. It was a beautiful ride my back has been getting stiff and I rode more than halfway standing on the pegs as it was more comfortable. It took us about 4 hours to make it across the Denali Highway.
David didn’t join us as he was in need of a new rear tire so he headed east back to the Glenallen Highway then south to a Yamaha dealer in Wasilla for a new tire. We headed south on the parks hwy from Cantwell and met him at Wasilla little after 5 PM. We headed to Anchorage for the night.
Heading south on the parks hwy brought us back to civilization, traffic, stoplights and a lot more people. I think I preferred the Tangle River area. Though we don’t have to worry about a place to get gas, or coffee here in Anchorage.
Marcus has to do some shopping this morning then we’re off to Whittier so it will be a short day of riding as it is less than 100 miles away.
